Esalen is open!

Please plan travel accordingly to accommodate a brief delay of up to 10-15 minutes at the traffic control site.

Highway 1 south of Esalen remains closed. Guests traveling from points south of us, please take the alternate route through Monterey.

Visitors are now able to access Esalen as well as other businesses and trails in northern Big Sur via twice-daily convoys on Highway 1 operated by Caltrans.

Host Your Conference

Imagine Esalen as the location for your next company event.

Our public programming — workshops and campus-wide festivals — are at the heart of Esalen. For more than six decades we have curated thematic experiences led by world-class experts, thinkers, and leading-edge experimenters who share their wisdom and offer transformational opportunities and tools to our seeking guests.

We are witnessing an increased interest by outside organizations to host unique, mission-aligned, company-curated and -produced conferences on site here at Esalen Institute. We've created a process that offers mission-aligned organizations the opportunity to explore our location and facilities as a potential host venue.

About Healing Arts

Before You Apply: Important Details to Know

Please carefully read the information below to determine if applying to produce a conference at Esalen Institute is synergistically right for your organization.

  • Be aware that workshops and Esalen-curated events take priority when scheduling our events each year. This means very few dates are available for outside conferences. Flexibility in your schedule is key and a spot is not guaranteed.
  • Conferences may be booked over the following timeframes:
  • Friday – Sunday (3 days / 2 nights)
  • Monday – Friday (5 days / 4 nights)
  • Monday – Sunday (7 days / 6 nights)
  • We can not allow exceptions to these timeframes as they ensure the day-to-day functioning of Esalen’s regular schedule is upheld.
  • A copy of your organization’s proposed event schedule must be provided no later than one month prior to your visit. Your programming will need to accommodate Esalen's fixed meal times, and take service hours for our Healing Arts department into consideration if your attendees wish to book massages or alternative sessions.
  • Full payment is required regardless of participant cancellations or for not being fully booked.
  • All transportation to and from Esalen is the responsibility of the host organization.

If you feel your organization’s needs can be met given these criteria, please submit an application to host a conference at Esalen Institute! One of our Program leads will be in touch soon regarding your application.
