Esalen Reopens May 3

Visitors are currently able to access Esalen as well as other businesses, parks, and trails in northern Big Sur via twice-daily convoys on Highway 1 operated by Caltrans.

Convoys run only at 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. each day. These are the only opportunities to travel into and out of Big Sur, so visitors must plan accordingly.

Due to road closures along Highway 1 to our north and south, Esalen is closed through April 11.
Esalen Institute is open! However, Highway 1 to the south is closed — please review the alternate route directions.

Diane Domondon

Diane Domondon is a Reiki Master with a private practice in NYC, where she teaches classes and treats clients in Usui Shiki Ryoho, the Usui Method of Natural Healing. She has contributed to several Reiki projects, including co-editing a forthcoming English translation of Reiki to Jinjutsu (Reiki and the Caring Arts), a 1933 volume by a student of Mikao Usui that documents early Reiki practice; overseeing the reprint of The Grey Book, a 1982 compilation of materials from Chujiro Hayashi and Hawayo Takata; as well as organizing webinars on the Takata Archives and the historical series A Century of Reiki with Dr. Justin Stein. She is a member of The Reiki Alliance, the international organization of Reiki masters in the lineage of Hawayo Takata, who first brought Reiki from Japan.
