Esalen opens May 3, 2024

Visitors are now able to access Esalen as well as other businesses and trails in northern Big Sur via twice-daily convoys on Highway 1 operated by Caltrans.

Convoys run only at 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. each day. These are the only opportunities to travel into and out of Big Sur, so visitors must plan accordingly.

Yi-Li Godfrey integrates theory and best practices from psychology, sociology, philosophy, cultural studies, history, education, and communication. Her approach is enriched by her lived experience as an immigrant, entrepreneur, woman of color, and mother of a multiracial child. This diverse background helps her guide clients through complex challenges and cultivate thriving cultures at both individual and organizational levels.

Yi-Li’s Chinese/Taiwanese heritage and distinguished musical background (Master and Bachelor of Music from Juilliard, Doctor of Musical Arts from Stony Brook University) offer a unique perspective on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB). Just as nature thrives on diversity, she believes that dissonance in perspectives can lead to harmony. She equips clients with skills to navigate personal and social complexities and unlock creative solutions.

As the founder of the Hoboken School of Music and The Hudson Symphony, Yi-Li has turned passion into action, promoting music for all and providing platforms for emerging artists.

Yi-Li is also a certified body psychotherapy practitioner and founder of Godfrey Diversity Leadership Consulting, where she offers conflict facilitation and transformative workshops. She trained under renowned filmmaker Lee Mun Wah and continues to facilitate impactful DEIB workshops nationwide.
