Esalen News July 2022
Home is a sensibility. You may reside in that place where you pay the rent or mortgage, but that energetic feeling of home is something sacred that we discover and create in spaces we connect with. Big Sur and the tribal land that Esalen sits on is just that for many people, and that yearning desire to spend more time here — at home — is real. To help, we’ve created a few exciting new ways for you to spend more time exploring your potential with us on your journey of transformation.
Professionally and personally speaking, it’s rough out there: relentless COVID, the struggling economy, the understaffing effects of The Great Resignation, and so much more. If you’re ready for a profound life change, our new Residential Extended Education Program (REEP) is a three-month on-campus work program that creates space for personal growth and metamorphosis of students while being of service here at Esalen. Join our next cohort of working students now!
Our favorite complaint at Esalen is when guests say they wish they could stay just one more day. You spoke and we are listening. Maximize your experience with us and integrate more deeply by spending an additional day in reflection! Reflection Days are offered over select weekends. Because we have limited space for this special enhancement, book in advance. With this added quiet time, you may also reserve an Esalen massage before your Monday departure. Contact Esalen Reservations at info@esalen.org or 831-667-3000 for more information.
Back in the Day is a new feature that spotlights the colorful days and nights of long-time Esalen community members and alumni — to capture the magical moments that happened here once upon a time and preserve the memories. We launch this series with Brita Ostrom, a founding member of the Esalen Massage School who has led massage and somatic workshops for more than 40 years.
If a weekend or a week workshop isn’t enough, imagine if you could stay longer and press pause on your everyday life. Dedicate four weeks to explore yourself and start the journey of personal transformation in one of our Live Extended Education Programs. If you’re ready to take the LEEP, we’re accepting applications for these exciting programs.
