Esalen News June 2022
Change is the only constant in life. Esalen is a place that iterates in tandem, if not just ahead of society — all while always maintaining the mission of exploring human potential. That means traversing the digitalscape, as we did recently with our first digital hybrid workshop, and developing new and different ways to share our story.
While we are no longer running Esalen Live! and this week marks the last INSIGHTS, we are developing some new pieces of content. Look for an Esalen-style Proust Questionnaire, #myEsalen, and our round up of LGBTQIA titles to kick off On Our Bookshelf. There’s more unfolding this summer, so stay tuned!
Guide the Esalen digital experience you want by sharing your thoughts and preferences about our future online programming.
The triumphant kickoff of our digital hybrid program with Sianna Sherman proved that we can provide a unique online yoga experience that is both deeply meaningful and transformational.
Now we’d like to know: What other dream workshops are you seeking to experience through your home screen?
Inspired by a list of thoughts and feelings-inspired questions by the 20th century French writer Marcel Proust, the Proust Questionnaire is our own version of the Victorian parlor game that thoughtfully digs a little deeper and differently into what inspires and makes our incredible faculty and staff shine. Our first edition features Sianna Sherman and Masood Ali Khan.
If a weekend or a week workshop isn’t enough, imagine if you could stay longer and press pause on your everyday life? Dedicate four weeks to explore yourself and life in one of our Live Extended Education Programs. If you’re ready to take the LEEP, we’re accepting applications for these exciting programs.
CranioSacral Therapy: Exploring Presence and Intentioned Touch, July 2 – 29, 2022 with Karen Axelrod
CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle and profoundly moving form of bodywork known to help regulate the central nervous system for body-mind-spirit balancing. Learn how strong, therapeutic presence and intentional touch can facilitate safety and comfort for clients, practicing hands-on techniques to help unravel pain and dysfunction, while enhancing health in every dimension. You must be a professional healthcare practitioner or student or meet the course prerequisite requirements for this program.
Burnout Recovery For Health Care Workers & Therapists, August 26 – September 23, 2022 with Lissa Rankin, MD
Healers need healing too. After the past two years of pandemic-related service, healthcare workers and therapists can join a month-long program designed to heal the healer in a trauma-informed way. Experience a variety of self-healing tools collected by Dr. Lissa Rankin during her 10 years traveling the globe to study Indigenous healing and faith and energy healing, as well as cutting-edge trauma therapies from her book Sacred Medicine.
Whether it’s through the lens of Buddhism, tantra, yoga, the Enneagram, breathwork, bodywork, or modern science, our new August and September workshops arm you with the tools to bring your very best self into sharper, more aligned and self-aware focus. Plus, see which workshops coming up soon have openings.
Gentle alert: Workshop registrants and self-guided visitors now have the opportunity to extend their weekend stay for an extra Day of Reflection (Sunday — Monday) to further integrate their experience. Space is limited, first come first served. Contact Esalen Reservations at info@esalen.org or 831-667-3000 for more information.
We publish an update of new workshops every two weeks. Be the first to know and sign up! Our workshops sell out quickly.
We are excited to share new and delightful ways to tell the Esalen story and the magical humans that make, made, and will continue to make this place very special.
