Visitors are now able to access Esalen as well as other businesses and trails in northern Big Sur via twice-daily convoys on Highway 1 operated by Caltrans.
Convoys run only at 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. each day. These are the only opportunities to travel into and out of Big Sur, so visitors must plan accordingly.
Please note: On Wednesday September 20, online registration may be unavailable for up to 15 minutes while system maintenance is performed. If the 'Register Now' page does not load, please wait about 15 minutes and try again.
Wouldn’t it be nice to feel comfortable in your own skin? How do you ‘do’ you?
Return to Source is a dance and movement-based deep dive into the 5Rhythms® movement meditation practice to explore, celebrate, and connect to the beautiful authenticity that is you. Your presence and authenticity is as unique as your own fingerprint. It is a source of great potential that requires courage, curiosity, and support to harness. The motion of our bodies in alignment with our intentional breath is an accessible tool to sculpt, hone, and unearth the authenticity that is uniquely you.
During this impactful weekend you are invited through movement, group shares, and sensory awareness to explore your edges, move with intention, and unearth your own relationship to authentic being.
In this dynamic program, we will explore…
Douglas will be joined by Guest Faculty and Musician Ray Ippolito:
As a multi instrumentalist versed in many musical styles and cultures, Ray has performed and/or recorded with such well known artists as Mickey Hart, Jai Uttal, Krishna Das, Angelique Kidjo, the Spin Doctors, Richie Havens, Mike Gordon(Phish), Col Bruce Hampton, and many many more. Ray has recorded and produced music that has been featured in international dance festivals, Relix Magazine, multiple TV networks (A&E, Biography Channel, Discovery Channel, Travel Channel, Oprah and others), VH1's song of the year, and has performed in such prestigious venues as Carnegie Hall, Symphony Space, Bhakti Fest, the Omega Institute and more. Having the honor to perform and help facilitate the legacy work of Gabriel Roth’s 5 Rhythms in NYC, Ray is honored and excited to visit and give his musical offering to this beautiful body of work at such a prestigious place as the Esalen Institute.
The 5Rhythms® can be a powerful lens in which we can track, express, breathe, and embrace how sensation moves and is felt within the body. Return to Source honors the maps of the 5Rhythms practice through authentic expression of the body, in all shapes and forms. No prior experience is necessary.
