Your Schedule at Esalen

Before You Travel

Please be sure to review our new procedure for checking in when you arrive at the Gate, as well as the COVID-19 screening questionnaire that all guests will be asked to complete before being allowed on campus.

Arrival and Departure

You are welcome to arrive at Esalen any time after 2:00 p.m. on the day your stay begins. You may pick up your room key at the Gate or in our Lodge at the front desk at 4:00 p.m.

On your departure day, we ask that you remove all belongings from your room prior to your final workshop session or by 10:00 a.m. You are welcome to stay for lunch or brunch and remain on the Esalen property until 2:00 p.m.

Workshop Meeting Hours

While there are some exceptions, workshops typically meet on the first evening from 8:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and on the last day from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., with about six hours of class time scheduled over multiple sessions on the intervening days. Our weekend workshops generally consist of 10 hours of class time, while five-day workshops usually offer 26 hours.

A detailed schedule of all workshop sessions will be available upon arrival for the workshop, or may be posted in advance on the workshop description page on our website. Use the Workshop Finder to locate your workshop.

If it's your first time at Esalen, or if it's been a while since your last visit, we welcome you to attend an orientation presentation held on Friday and Sunday evenings. Inquire when you arrive as to the specific time and location.
